What is the difference between a cash drawer and a Point of Sale system?
Point of Sale systems are computer programs created to keep track of daily sales. They are often used in conjunction with cash drawers. Express Software provides your store with an organized program to keep track of customers, inventory, sales, purchases, and much more.

Is there any way I can test Express Software before purchase?

What would be the best operating system to install your software on?
We recommend Windows’ XP Professional.
About 95% of our customers install the software on their own or while talking with us on the phone. The software is set to auto-install, so all you have to do is follow the instructions. The software comes with 60 days of free technical support. Feel free to call us if you would like us to walk you through anything.
The training and installation services are for customers who prefer that we physically go to their store to install the software and train employees. We do about 95% of our training over the phone. The software comes with a training manual, quick steps manual, and training video. It is very easy to learn.
Can we install and learn Express Software by ourselves with a manual? Like any other software?
Yes, most of our customers do. The software comes with a detailed user manual as well as a Quick Steps guide. The Quick Steps guide can also be found on our website at the following link: Quick Steps. The software also comes with a training video for your staff. The software is set up to auto install, so the process is quick and painless. Would a peer-to-peer network be appropriate for Express Software?
Yes, for a network with five or less computers. If you have 4 or more computers, we recommend a dedicated server.
Are there any special computer requirements?Minimum System Requirements are: 800 MHZ processor or greater, 128 MB Windows XP (64 MB RAM, Windows '98, or Windows 2000). Recommended System Requirements: 1 GHZ processor or greater, 256 MB RAM and Windows XP Professional. Approximately 250 MB of available disk space is needed to load Express Software.
How does Express Software compute commissions?
When an item is sold we acquire the cost of the item using the “First In - First Out” algorithm and store the sale in Express Software's history table. When we generate the commission report we evaluate the sales history and use the algorithms that are defined in the set system module to determine the commission for each sales person.
Do zero cost sales automatically compute commissions?
We have an option to not assign a commission if the item is below Cost Plus (you define where you want the cost plus setting to be).
Does Express Software support other bar code formats besides UPC?
Yes. A barcode is a series of numbers/characters that identify a product. UPC barcodes define a specific layout on how the numbers that identify an item is to be defined. Both UPC and EAN barcode formats are regulated by a specific organization. Other formats include UPC-E, EAN, EAN13, and Barcode 3 of 9. Barcodes 3 of 9 are free-formed alphanumeric barcodes and are not regulated by any organization. The type of barcode scanner determines which barcodes can be read. Most barcode scanners support all the popular formats. The barcode printers that we sell evaluate the barcode format and print out the appropriate barcode on the label.
Can I limit what functions my sales people have in Express Software?
Yes, Express Software will allow you to choose what programs your employees are allowed into. It also limits their access within certain programs. The software is password protected. We also offer Smart Card Security systems. Please let us know if you would like some more information.
Does Express Software handle the special retail needs of rentals, training and travel?
Yes it does, as well as repairs.
All you need to run Express Software is a PC and an 8.5 x 11 printer. Specific computer requirements are listed above. Express Software supports multiple types of POS hardware, see below for a list of supported peripherals.

How much free assistance is included with the purchase of the POS software?
The software comes with two hours training for you and your staff, and unlimited technical support Monday – Friday 9am-5pm PST for the first 60 days.
Can you convert our current software?
If you are currently using ScubaWare, QuickBooks, Scuba Profit, or MascMan, send the data to us, and we can convert it within a week. Please call for a price quote. If it is a different type of software, send a sample of your data and we will evaluate it and send you a quote. Please call before sending any data.
Who will actually install the software?
About 95% of the time the customer installs the software. We can walk you through the process easily over the phone.

How long do you think it will take me to input the data for my store?
It all depends on the store. If we convert your data, you will just need to go through the initial setup which will take anywhere from 1-4 hours, depending on if hardware and networks are already installed.
